Where to Do Pilates in the Florida Keys: Key Largo, Islamorada & Marathon

Lifestyle Kelsey Caputo-Frins September 30, 2026

From classical Reformer Pilates to infrared mat classes and private instruction, here’s where to practice Pilates in Key Largo, Tavernier, Islamorada and Marathon—and why wellness is becoming part of the Florida Keys luxury lifestyle.

The Florida Keys may be known for boating, fishing and days spent on the water, but another lifestyle trend is quietly becoming part of island life: Pilates and wellness-focused fitness.

From private classical Pilates at Ocean Reef to infrared mat Pilates in Islamorada and boutique studios in Marathon, there are now several ways to maintain a Pilates practice without leaving the Keys.

It also reflects a larger shift happening in luxury living.

Today’s luxury buyer is looking beyond the traditional home gym. Pilates studios, saunas, cold plunges, recovery spaces and indoor-outdoor fitness areas are increasingly influencing how wellness-oriented homes are designed and experienced.

For those living in—or visiting—the Upper and Middle Keys, here are some of the local Pilates options worth knowing.

Where Can You Do Pilates in Key Largo?

Pilates in Paradise — Ocean Reef Club

For Ocean Reef members, Pilates In Paradise offers a dedicated Pilates and fitness program within the Key Largo community.

The studio focuses primarily on private and personalized classical Pilates instruction, rather than the large group Reformer format that has become common in major cities. Pilates in Paradise also offers personal training, stretch therapy and yoga within its Ocean Reef program.

Its Ocean Reef Pilates offering is members-only, making this a particularly natural fit for residents who want private instruction incorporated into their routine without leaving the community.

Where Can You Do Reformer Pilates in Tavernier?

Pilates in Paradise — Tavernier

Pilates In Paradise also operates a Tavernier studio at 89240 Overseas Highway, and unlike its Ocean Reef location, the Tavernier studio is open to the broader community.

This is one of the stronger choices in the Upper Keys for someone looking for classical apparatus-based Pilates, including private and semi-private instruction. New clients begin with introductory private sessions before progressing into the studio's other programming.

For someone living between Key Largo and Islamorada, it is also conveniently positioned in the middle of the Upper Keys.

Local tip: Be sure to check Pilates in Paradise’s social media for special mat Pilates events throughout the Upper Keys, including unique community classes such as Pilates with the Dolphins, hosted at Dolphins Plus and supporting Dolphin Life. These pop-up experiences bring Pilates out of the studio and into some of the settings that make wellness in the Florida Keys so unique.

Where Can You Do Pilates in Islamorada?

Ciao Bella of Islamorada

For a more wellness-oriented interpretation of Pilates, Ciao Bella of Islamorada Salon, Day Spa, Wellness & Yoga offers infrared mat Pilates at its Islamorada wellness center.

Its current schedule includes multiple mat Pilates classes throughout the week, combining Pilates with an infrared studio environment. Ciao Bella also offers yoga, aerial yoga, stretching, massage and spa services, making it more of a full wellness destination than a traditional Pilates-only studio.

This is particularly interesting because it mirrors what we're seeing in luxury residential design: fitness and recovery beginning to occupy the same space.

Rather than treating exercise, spa treatments and recovery as unrelated activities, newer wellness concepts increasingly bring them together.

Outdoor & Resort-Based Mat Pilates

Islamorada also has more informal ways to practice.

Yoga with Lacey Devin offers yoga and mat Pilates programming at various Upper Keys venues, including locations in Islamorada and Key Largo. Current local listings include mat Pilates at venues such as Casa Morada and The Angler House, making this a good option for someone who prefers a smaller, outdoor or resort-style experience rather than a traditional studio.

Because schedules can change seasonally, I would confirm the current class calendar before attending.

Where Can You Do Pilates in Marathon?

Marathon has several boutique options.

Island Pilates

Island Pilates is located at 11400 Overseas Highway in Marathon and offers a boutique Pilates experience in the Middle Keys.

It's a useful option for both local residents and visitors who want to maintain their Pilates routine while staying in Marathon, particularly for those looking for more personalized instruction rather than a large fitness-club environment.

Lighthouse Pilates

For private instruction, Lighthouse Pilates offers one-on-one Pilates training in Marathon.

Owner and instructor Arlene Mirabella describes the sessions as individually tailored to each client's ability and goals, with Pilates, yoga and calisthenics incorporated into the practice.

For someone who prefers individualized instruction over group Reformer classes, this is another local option worth exploring.

Why Pilates Fits the Florida Keys Lifestyle

Pilates makes particular sense in the Keys because fitness here often extends well beyond a gym.

Boating, paddleboarding, swimming, diving, fishing, cycling and other outdoor activities are already integrated into daily life.

Pilates complements that lifestyle through a focus on controlled movement, strength, mobility and balance.

But I think the more interesting story is what Pilates represents.

Wellness is becoming part of the luxury lifestyle rather than something separate from it.

That is beginning to influence real estate, too.

From the Pilates Studio to the Luxury Home

The traditional luxury home gym is evolving.

Instead of dedicating an oversized room exclusively to weights and cardio equipment, homeowners are beginning to think about wellness more broadly.

A light-filled room overlooking the water can become a private Reformer studio.

An existing pool cabana can become a wellness pavilion.

A covered waterfront terrace can provide space for yoga and meditation.

A primary suite might incorporate a sauna, steam shower or recovery area.

And outdoor spaces can accommodate cold plunges, outdoor showers and fitness areas surrounded by tropical landscaping.

In the Florida Keys, many of the ingredients are already here: water, sunlight, privacy and year-round indoor-outdoor living.

The opportunity is simply to design around them.

Are Wellness Amenities Becoming Important in Luxury Real Estate?

For some buyers, yes—but I would not suggest that installing a Reformer or cold plunge automatically increases a home's value.

The impact is more subtle.

At the luxury level, buyers are often comparing already exceptional properties. Amenities influence how complete and thoughtfully designed a home feels and whether it supports the lifestyle the buyer wants.

A private Pilates studio overlooking the ocean may not create a simple line-item adjustment on an appraisal.

But it can make a property memorable.

And at the upper end of the Florida Keys market, where buyers increasingly expect homes to offer more than beautiful finishes, the experience of living in the property matters.

A Different Kind of Wellness Destination

The Florida Keys have always offered a version of wellness that is difficult to manufacture elsewhere.

Morning movement overlooking the ocean.

A swim from the dock.

Paddleboarding before work.

An afternoon on the boat.

An outdoor shower after returning from the water.

A Pilates class in Islamorada followed by lunch overlooking the bay.

The rise of Pilates, recovery and wellness spaces isn't changing the Florida Keys lifestyle as much as it is putting a name to something the Keys have offered for generations: the ability to build daily life around the water, outdoors and a slower rhythm.

For today's luxury homeowner, that may ultimately be one of the most valuable amenities of all.
